Ticket-Takers – Ticket-takers are used for most public ticketed events.  Usually a turnstile and ticket drop box will be used to determine the number of people that entered the event.  Turnstile counts and ticket counts are compared to box office reports to determine actual show attendance.  Proper accounting of tickets is required. It is essential that all ticket-takers know the rules and types of tickets for each event.  Many shows have numerous types of tickets.  Before doors open, all ticket-takers should have a clear understanding of valid tickets for that particular event. You should greet the public with a smile, “good morning”, “good afternoon”, “thank you for coming have a good day or night, read their tickets, and look for the event name to verify the ticket is valid.

Door-guards – Door-guards are used primarily for the security of doorways, entrances, exits, checking of credentials in an assigned area and stamping the patrons hands for re-entry at the designated smoking areas. It is important that door-guards know section locations and portals for entry into the seating area, restrooms, concession stands, EMS room, ATM locations and Guest Services for each show or event. The public should be greeted with a smile and ask if they require assistance. Thank them for coming and have a good day or night.

Ushers – Ushers are used for ticketed functions.  The responsibility of an usher is to assist patrons in getting to their seat (or table).  For functions at the Baton Rouge River Center Arena, Ballroom, Theater, or Exhibition Hall ushers should be thoroughly versed in the general layout of the facilities.  This requires all personnel to take a little time to familiarize themselves with all areas of the facilities. Programming requirements vary show to show. Make sure you fully understand the instructions from your supervisor.  The event coordinator will review the set-up for each show or event, and go over the set-up with you during the event briefing. An usher should always know section locations, portal entries into the seating area, restrooms, concession stands, EMS room, ATM locations and Guest Services. The public should be greeted with a smile, “may I help you to your seat”, “thank you for coming”, “have a good day” and “have a good night”.

Parkers – Personnel working these posts help direct traffic flow for the move-in and move-out of a show.  This is crucial and sometimes a stressful assignment.  The complexity depends on the type of show and the hours of the move-in or move-out. Parkers are strategically posted on the parking lot to control the flow of vehicles and to give designated parking assignments.  The instructions will vary for each show and are dictated by the SMG Event Coordinator. It is important for each parker working a move-in or move-out to meet with the supervisor and fully understand the instructions for each show.  Radio contact is essential for a smooth operation at these posts.
